Excursions

In the afternoon of Wednesday, September 30, 2015, several excursions will take place. Following excursions for the QM2015 participants are arranged by JTB (one of the biggest travel agencies in Japan) or by Conference.

Local Kobe Tour

Hiking tour to Nunobiki Falls, which is one of the sources of Kobe water that falls into midstream of Ikuta River on mountain side. It is selected as one of the "best 100 falls" in Japan.
Maximum participants are 60. 60 participants will be divided into 3-6 groups, and 2-3 Japanese colleagues will guide each group. The tour will start immediately after the morning session. You need to pay for the public transportation.

Kyoto Tour

Kyoto is one of the most famous place in Japan. Kyoto was the capital of Japan and the emperor's residence from 794 until 1868. It is now the country's seventh largest city with a population of 1.4 million people. There are countless temples, shrines and other historically priceless structures survive in the city.
It takes 1.5-2 hours from Kobe to Kyoto. JTB organizes the bus tour to Kyoto and brings you to the two most famous temples in Japan. On the way back to Kobe, you will enjoy the beautiful night city view of Kobe.
The price is 6,500 JPY. The minimum number of the participants is 40 and no limitation for the maximum number of the participants. (AMARYS sets the maximum number but this number will increase.)

Himeji Tour

Himeji is most famous for its magnificent castle, Himeji Castle, widely considered to the most beautiful castle in Japan. Himeji Castle is the largest and most visited castle in Japan, and it was registered in 1993 as one of the first UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the country. It takes 1.5-2 hours from Kobe to Himeji. JTB organizes the bus tour to Himeji and brings you to the Himeji Castle and surrounding historical gardens. On the way back to Kobe, you will enjoy the beautiful night city view of Kobe.

Nara Tour

Nara is the first permanent capital of Japan. Heijo was established in the year 710, at the city now known as Nara. As the influence and political ambitions of the city's powerful Buddhist monasteries grew to become a serious threat to the government, the capital was moved to Kyoto around 794. It takes 1.5-2 hours from Kobe to Nara. JTB organizes the bus tour to Nara and take you to Todai-ji (Buddhist temple complex, the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha) and surrounding national park. On the way back to Kobe, you will enjoy the beautiful night city view of Kobe.
